Interesting things afoot. First, a "Cyber War" is being waged over WikiLeaks and its founder. See the article here.
Supporters of Wikileaks, including the internet phenomenon known as Anonymous which gained notoriety in its campaign against Scientology in 2008 and its involvement in protesting the Iran elections in 2009, have been attacking the websites of major corporations which withdrew support from, or interfered with the internet existence of, Wikileaks. Notably the websites for Visa and Mastercard were caused to crash.
At the same time the United Nations expressed concern that the corporate move to cut off Wikileak's access to server space likely violated its right to freedom of expression.
Protests against Assange's arrest have occurred in such places as Sydney and Pakistan while Russian Primeminister Putin and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva both came out as well in opposition to the arrests.
